It's a Bird! It's a Plane! It's the Moon! No, It's a Metaphor for All the Things We See Differently

1.
On your toes you tried to steal the moon. Did you need my help? Well I’d refuse, but it’s too late—the night is gone. Amplify the facts that coincide and bury all the flags that you need to hide, but it’s no use to deny it now. Painting a still life is but a lie; trying to make you stay I realized that it’s no use because nothing does. (Shadow of your laughter in the dark, it resonates but I can’t place where you are.)

Dreamin' F2 02:52
When you were a silhouette on that piano bench, playing only ivory keys (lips pursed so subtly) I found you. The bar stools were upside down; the truth driveled from my mouth. With your gaze lingering, a deadpan delivery: “Oh that’s new.” The rain begged us not to think too much for the ending. Let’s agree on something trite. We peaked at different times—out of phase.
3.
Garden State 01:42
When I call you by your middle name, you react so violently. And I don't know why, it fits you so well. (prickly perennial) When I call you late at night to take back all I said, I am so glad that you’d let me retract. (sulking succulents) More contrived than Garden State, I planned my exit options. I tried hard to remember that I am strapped to the window seat.
4.
A sand castle according to your favorite Wright design washed away by your curious longing for solitude. I’m a mere renter, but I understand your motives. Real estate hunting brings out the best in your features. With mortgage rates falling, you don’t need to compromise, but there’s no shame in wanting a Craftsman with two and a half baths.
5.
You took pictures of the sky to capture the moon at a strange angle. But blame it on the night, it didn’t resemble how we saw it. I took pictures of the sky to capture you at a strange moment; it's saved next to the time you tried to steal my fingerprint. These frames of the night find a way to build a scene so differently for you and me. I suppose a friend is a friend but we all know how that ends. (I know you don’t believe me; I doubt myself too.) We looked up to the sky as if the moon could prompt us our next lines.

about

This work depicts actual events in the life of the author as truthfully as recollection permits and/or can be verified by research. Occasionally—actually quite often, dialogue consistent with the character or nature of the person speaking has been supplemented. All persons within are probably actual individuals.
